Meadow Frost

A tree-lined meadow sets the scene for a single frost-edged tree. It stands alone, a survivor in the aftermath of a winter storm. The quilt was originally designed as part of a the celebration marking the opening of a “meadowlands” installation at the Stowe Botanic Gardens (Gastonia, NC).

Materials: Silk dupioni and commercial cotton fabric;  polyester batting; silk, cotton, and polyester thread

Techniques: digital transfer of images to fabric; fused appliqué;  machine pieced and quilted.
