ABSTRACTS: Close up view
Havdalah II

Performed each Saturday at nightfall, Havdalah marks the transition from the Jewish Sabbath into the secular week ahead. A bright yellow/orange square represents the goodness and light associated with the Sabbath days of most traditions.  Beads enter the square and then multiply into an expanding arc, symbolizing hope that this Sabbath goodness and light will penetrate the dark recesses of troubled and stressed lives.

Materials: commercial cotton, velvet, organza, silk and polyester dupioni; cotton batting, cotton and polyester thread

Techniques: fused appliqué, machine pieced and quilted
