Bollywood Rice

At first glance, shiny bead embellishment may appear to be incongruous with this seemingly humble setting. The image is a farming scene printed on coarse cotton fabric that once held a kilo of rice. But the central figure, a woman pouring rice, isn’t dressed in farming attire. Instead, her outfit is reminiscent of Bollywood glamour. The scene takes on the air of a movie set where a little glitz is perfectly in place

Materials:  recycled cotton rice bag and commercial cotton fabric;  cotton batting;  cotton and polyester thread;  glass beads.

Techniques:  fused appliqué, machine pieced and quilted, hand beaded
